Can you believe this is Concha's first quilt? I love it! She took this simple block and made a beautiful, modern, cozy quilt out of it using fantastic fabrics. Here's the blog post where she shared this quilt originally. http://saidosdaconcha.blogspot.com/2008/10/step-by-step-quilting-part-3.html Thanks, Concha!

Wow - you are bold, Pojeda! I would have been nervous working on a project with such valuable pieces. You did a great job, though - this family now has the intricately-embroidered blocks in a quilt where they can display them proudly and easily pass them from generation to generation. Thanks for sharing your work!

Here is a quilt that I was commissioned to finish from signature blocks that were hand embroidered onto feed sacks in May 1941!!
The granddaughter was helping her grandmother pack and move out of her home and found these blocks in a shoe box way in the back of the closet! I found the 40's material that matched the colors of stitching in the blocks and cut the blocks down to even sizes, added the sashing and borders, and sewed the feedsack blocks together. I did not want to attempt the actual quilting on my sewing machine, so I reccommended that the owner take it to a long arm quilter.
It was really hard to give this quilt top up after I had finished it! (Sniff sniff!!!)
